                                      ANNUAL REPORT 2023-24

Distinguished Chief Guest of the day, His Excellency Shri Naveen  Shrivastava IFS ,Ambassador of India to Nepal, Hon’ble DCM, & Chairman VMC Shri Prasanna Shrivastava IFS  and esteemed  Deputy Chief of Mission (FS) & Nominee Chairman VMC Shri  Avinash Kumar Singh IFS, learned members of the Vidyalaya Management Committee respected Principals of neighboring  Vidyalayas, eminent guests, dear parents, staff and my beloved students .It gives me immense pleasure to welcome each one of you  to the Golden Jubilee Annual Day celebrations of K.V EOI Kathmandu.

Its a great honour to welcome the Chief Guest His Excellency Shri Naveen  Shrivastava to this  auspicious occasion. Shri Naveen Shrivastava has been a source of inspiration for all of us. His benign presence in this function has elevated the spirits of all and has brought a solemnity to the celebration. On behalf of the Vidyalaya community and on my own personal behalf may I extend a hearty welcome to you sir.

Honorable DCM and Chairman of Vidyalaya Management Committee Shri Prasanna Srivastava is an integral part of all Vidyalaya activities. His care and concern for the Vidyalaya activities combined with the far thinking ability is reflected in the action plan of the Vidyalaya. On behalf of the Vidyalaya community and on my own personal behalf may I extend a hearty welcome to you sir.

Let me extend a hearty welcome to the Deputy Chief of Mission (FS) & Nominee Chairman VMC Shri Avinash Kumar Singh IFS to the Golden Jubilee Annual Day Program.

       It gives me great pleasure to welcome the learned members of the Executive Committee of the VMC who have played a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of the Vidyalaya. I also welcome all the members of the alumni, esteemed Principals of neighboring schools, eminent guests, parents and all the beloved members of the KV family.

With immense joy and sense of gratitude I stand before you to present the Golden Jubilee Annual Report of Kendriya Vidyalaya EOI Kathmandu for the academic year 2023-24.

The Vidyalaya achieves a milestone this year,2023-24, when it celebrates its Golden Jubilee Anniversary. Jubilees are occasions to be celebrated, to recall the marvelous ways in which the school has fulfilled its mission to build leaders who will bring about a culture of peace and love which the world needs much today. Jubilees also provide an opportunity to reflect on the past achievements of the school as well as introspect on the preparations to meet the challenges that lie ahead.  ‘When we honour the past, we energize the future and the present becomes a celebration.’

 

KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA EOI KATHMANDU, founded in 1973, endeavours to provide a holistic education through a harmonious blend of 21st century skills leading to the integral growth and development of a global citizen. The Vidyalaya started functioning under Indian Co-operation Mission (ICM) on the land provided by the Embassy of India and in the building constructed by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. In 1980 the management of the Vidyalaya was taken over by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu. His Excellency, Ambassador of India to Nepal is the Patron and the Deputy Chief of Mission is the Chairman of the Vidyalaya Management Committee.

KV EOI Kathmandu is one of the three international schools run by KVS. The Vidyalaya follows the guidelines of KVS and CBSE so that the students become engaged, productive, and contributing citizens in the pursuit of the NEP's vision of an equitable, inclusive, and pluralistic society. Since its inception in the year 1973 KV EOI Kathmandu has scaled heights in all arenas and is still striving for excellence.

 His excellency, Shri Naveen Shrivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal is our benevolent Patron. Shri Prasanna Shrivastava DCM and Chairman VMC took over the reins of our Vidyalaya on 24th September 2022.

 

KVS Staff Postings and Transfers

The school functioned under the able leadership of Shri A P Vinod Kumar till December of this academic year. After the successful completion of his tenure in KV Kathmandu Shri Vinod Kumar was repatriated to India and has joined KV Calicut No I as Principal.

In the academic year 2023-24,six teachers  were repatriated on  completion of their tenure. We remember with gratitude the service of Mrs Anitha G ,PGT Maths,Mrs Moly Paul ,PGT English,Mr LP Chuadhari ,PGT Hindi,Mrs Prabitha P PGT Biology , Mr A Ansari TGT Social Science and Mrs Ganga J PRT.

 We also acknowledge the valuable service of Mr Thomas PV PGT Economics who got selection as Principal and was posted to KV Keltron Nagar in Ernakulam Region.

 

Academic Results and Achievements

 The ultimate touchstone of Vidyalaya’s success is the Result.

 In Class 12 Board Examination 2023 , the pass percentage was  98.72% .78 students appeared for AISSCE.The  PI of Science Stream   was 98.04% and the PI of  Commerce Stream was 100% .

In the  Science Stream, First position was secured by Ms Shubangi Jha   who secured  94.40 %. Ms Reet Pathak secured second position with 94 % and third position was secured by Ms Priyanshi Jain who scored  91.4%.

In Commerce Stream Ms.Sthuthi Gupta  came in the  first position  with 96.6 %.  Ms Himani Kedia secured second position  with 95.4%.Master Samuel Adhikari came third with 91.80%.

Moving to AISSE Class X 2023 results, 49 students appeared for the exam. The overall PI was   95.92%.    Master Preshan Dahal Kharel secured first position with 485 marks out of 500 with 97%.Ms Aastha Labh,Master Sandeep Sharma and Master Dhruv Joshi  secured second position with 93.4%. Master Venkata Surya Siddharth Neelapala secured third position with  92.6%.

This year 2024 ,54 students from science stream and 30 from commerce stream have appeared for AISSCE and 40 students have appeared for class X. The results of which have not been declared yet.

 

Golden Jubilee Activities

Golden Jubilee Activities was inaugurated by Shri Amrit Lamsal Joint Secretary of Nepal Investment Board on 4th May 2023. Golden Jubilee Logo Competition was conducted for the staff and students. Master Ankit Agrawal of XII A won the first Prize among students and Mrs Punithamni P TGT Maths was awarded first prize in the staff competition.

Interschool Basketball competition was conducted in the Nepal Police academy grounds and 8 schools took part in the tournament. The Vidyalaya also organised inter school Yoga, Chess and Painting competitions. These competitions brought the students of different schools to one platform which allowed them to share and learn from each other’s experiences

ALUMNI MEET

A grand reunion of 1985 batch of the Alumni was held in August. Bollywood actor Joy Sengupta, Sh.Ajay Jain, Special Chief Secretary, Govt of Andhra Pradesh, an IAS officer of 1991 batch  were some of the distinguished students of this batch. We are indebted to this batch of students who donated for the renovation of the school stage.

Tarunotsava:

Tarunotsava, an initiative by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan took place from April 24th to May 4th, 2023. Engaging 35 students and 45 prospective students from various schools, the program aimed at language improvement, skill enhancement, and personal growth. It included sessions on Class 11 and 12 syllabus, yoga, time management, art, along with guest lectures on careers, reading habits, and cyber security.

Praveshotsav

In 2023-24 Preveshotsav of Class-I was conducted on 27th April.32 Students took admission in the Vidyalaya.

Bharath Scouts and Guides Activities.

The activities of Scouts and guides and Cubs and Bulbuls are regularly taking place in the Vidyalaya. Six Cubs and 2 Bulbuls won the Golden Arrow award last year. The award included a certificate, badge and a cash prize of 1000/rs which was given away by the DCM during the annual Sports Day.

Routes 2 Roots

 Dr. Priyambada T. Paudyal conducted a Bharatnatyam Lecture Demonstration where the students got an opportunity to know about the roots of Bharatnatyam.

Co curricular Activities

With a view of drawing out the innate talents of the students, the Vidyalaya staged numerous co- curricular activities throughout the session. The inter-house competitions organized in primary and secondary sections separately under the auspices of four houses on weekly basis nurture the latent talents of the students. The cultural activities included observation of important days like  Grandparents day,  teachers day, earth day, youth day etc and celebrations of religious festivals like Rakshabandan, Dussehra, Deepavali, Christmas, etc and national festivals such as Independence Day, Republic day, Constitution Day which help them to develop leadership qualities, sense of responsibility and patriotism. Display board competitions on current topics kept the atmosphere alive and vibrant. Prizes were awarded during the KVS Foundation Day on 15th December.

Students participated in various co-curricular activities with great zeal which has definitely helped them to boost their confidence, discipline, cooperation and team spirit. This instills in students the importance of giving each other space, openness and the joy of healing and inclusion.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY: Student Council was officially sworn in a colourful investiture ceremony in which Ms  Aastha Saraf of class XII C & and Master Krishna Bansal  of Class XII A were sworn as school Captain Girls and School Captain Boys respectively.

Class Magazine:

 All classes from VI-XII released their magazines which gave a platform to showcase and publish their creative and artistic talents.  The winners were Class IX and Class XII B.

External Competitions

Our students participated in various art and literary, sports competitions conducted by neighboring schools. Rudraksha Lal Jha ,class X Aastha Upadhay of Class XII secured first position in the English essay writing competition conducted by MIS school. Rhea Manadhar and Sanskriti Gautam secured special mention in the Art Fest conducted by Focus Bangladesh. Rishima Pandey and SreeVidya of Class VII, Shathakshi Priya and Aayush of class XII won prizes in the Hindi Pakhwada and Sanskrit Shloka Competitions conducted by SVCC

 

Club Activities

To enable the students to develop their latent talents and interests, Eight different clubs ART, BOOK ,CHARITY ,CYBER ,HEALTH&WELLNESS ,HERITAGE ,INTEGRITY and SCIENCE are formed in the secondary section and there are 4 clubs in the primary section-Charity, Language, Nature and Sports. The clubs conducted their activities periodically and on  all Wednesdays special assembly was conducted by the clubs on a rotation basis which showcased the aims and objectives as well as the achievements of the clubs. Display Board competitions too develop the aesthetic and artistic skills of the students and help to keep abreast with the changes that happen around us.

 

Assembly Programme.

Morning Assembly is conducted class wise on a rotation basis. All classes perform the assembly under the guidance of class teachers. All students in the class are given opportunity to perform the assembly programme which instills public speaking skills and builds confidence.

 Sports and Games Activities

The Golden Jubilee sports week was organised in the Vidyalaya from 10th October to 17th October. The annual sports day was organized on 7th November 2023 which was graced by  Chairman VMC Shri Prasanna Srivastava as the chief guest  and guest of honour Shri  Karun Bansal Chairman Nominee VMC. Students participated with great zeal to achieve and with all the sportsmanship to keep their house flags high. Winners were awarded, championship trophies were given to the winning teams.

Vidyalaya participated in Aao Khel Khelo which was jointly  organized by SVCC and Nepal Police Academy. Children of our Vidyalaya took part in various competitions conducted by outside schools. Extra coaching classes are conducted for Badminton ,Football ,Basketball and  Volleyball after school hours.

Field Trips

All the classes were taken out on a field trip for a day of fun and togetherness. Classes I to V visited the central Zoo at Lalitpur, Classes VI-VIII visited the Zoo and the Toudha Lake, Classes IX&X enjoyed a day out at Nammo Buddha.Classes XI& XII visited Nagarkot. Classes XI &XII also got an opportunity to visit the herbal gardens of Dabur.

COMMUNITY WORK continues with charity activities. Students and staff responded positively to reach out to the poor and needy, old age homes and orphanages.

 Teacher Development Programme

 Teacher Development Programme  took off with  online workshop conducted by CBSE  for each subject  for teachers handling classes 10th and 12th.

Four of the teachers -Mr Sushil Kumar, Narpat Chouhan, Mrs Hemlata Yadav, Mrs Suman Pandey attended a capacity building  workshop at DAV school  organised under the auspices of CBSE in January.

Mr Vaidyanathan, Mrs Punithamani, Mr Anil Kumar, Mr Avadesh Kumar attended the Vedic Maths workshop organised by SVCC in  February.

 

 

Fifty glorious years form a significant milestone in the history of KV EOI.Half a century of honest striving in the pursuit of knowledge,50 years of commitment to the cause of education and long 5 decades of untiring service to the moulding of young minds sums up the secret of excellence that this educational institution breathes today. Let me take a moment to remember and acknowledge the services of    Principals and dedicated staff-teaching and non teaching  whose tireless efforts helped us reach this moment of glory.

 I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all our well wishers who have been relentlessly co-operating with us in upholding the name of this institution. I thank all the members of the staff who stand by me in executing various activities. I acknowledge the fact that success of every activity in the school was due to the commitment, dedication and hard work of the entire KV EOI family. I am indeed grateful to the Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners of the KVS Delhi RO for their guidance, encouragement and support in our efforts to excel. This long, but enriching journey of 50 years by KV Kathmandu has created a legacy of excellence. We look up to the stars(Mount Everest here!), and march forward with our feet firmly on the ground.
